UNDP chief visits Laos, assesses development progress

VIENTIANE, March 12 (Xinhua) -- The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) chief is visiting Laos to assess the progress made towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.

UNDP Administrator and Chair of the United Nations Development Group Helen Clark is in Laos on a two-day official visit that began on Sunday.

The UNDP chief is set to meet with Lao Prime Minister Thongloun Sisoulith, high-ranking government officials and development partners to discuss the progress made so far by Laos towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals since her last visit in November 2015.

The UNDP administrator will also launch three flagship UNDP programs in coordination with Lao Ministry of Planning and Investment, Ministry of Home Affairs and Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare under the new UNDP Country Program for Laos (2017-2021).
