Iran condemns deadly shooting in Paris

TEHRAN, April 21 (Xinhua) -- Iran's Foreign Ministry hascondemned a deadly shooting in Paris on Thursday evening ahead ofFrench presidential elections, Press TV reported on Friday.

Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qasemi urged world countriesto join hands and help eradicate the threat of terrorism "withstrong determination."

Qasemi criticized western support for "double standards" indealing with the issue of terrorism, saying it has emboldenedterrorists to launch another attack at the heart of Europe.

He described terrorism as "the first and most immediate threatagainst the global peace, stability and security," stressing thatthe scourge "cannot be eliminated without a consensus as well as afirm and honest will among members of the internationalcommunity."

Thursday's shootout in central Paris, claimed by the IslamicStates group, killed one police officer and injured two others,local media reported. Enditem
