Chinese teen divers clinch gold at FINA World Championships

BUDAPEST, July 15 (Xinhua) -- Chinese teen divers Ren Qian/LianJunjie clinched gold in the mixed 10m platform event at the FINAWorld Championships here on Saturday.

Ren and Lian, both 16, led the field of 16 pairs since the firstround and collected 352.98 points from five rounds to finish firstplace in the first diving final at the World Championships.

"I am happy to get the first gold medal at the FINA WorldChampionships for China. However, I am not happy with myperformance because I felt I did not perform my best at all, forall the five dives," said Ren, who clinched the title of thewomen's 10m platform at last year's Rio Olympic Games.

Lois Toulon and Matthew Lee from Britain finished second in323.28 points, followed by DPR Koreans Kim Mi Rae and Hyon Il Myongin 318.12 points.

"Lian and I just trained together for less than one month, soour synchronization is not very good. I believe we can do better ifwe trained more," said Ren.

Ren will also compete in the women's individual and synchronizedplatform in Budapest. "It is a little bit pressure for me, but itis OK. I believe I can handle it," said Ren. Enditem
