LONDON, July 17 (Xinhua) --The runway at Britain's London Gatwick airport was closed briefly on Monday afternoon after a departing flight reported a burst tyre, the airport tweeted.

The close came between 1:16 p.m. and 1:45 p.m. A few departing flights were delayed during the period with a small number of arrivals diverted to other airports.

The runway had reopened, a spokesman for the airport said.
