Bayern, Dortmund show no mercy in German Cup

BERLIN, Aug. 12 (Xinhua) -- Bayern Munich progressed into thenext round after crushing Chemnitzer FC 5-0 while titleholdersBorussia Dortmund downed Rielasingen-Arlen 4-0 at the first roundof the German Cup on Saturday.

As expected, German record champions Bayern Munich booked theirticket for the second round as Robert Lewandowski provided a braceto smooth the way for a 5-0 victory on the road.

Lower league side Chemnitz defended deep from the kick off butthey were hapless when Lewandowski unleashed a deflected free-kickto break the deadlock with 20 minutes played.

The "Bavarians" controlled the proceedings on the pitch but theyhad yet to wait until the restart to double the lead as KingsleyComan capitalized on Franck Ribery's through ball in the 51stminute.

Carlo Ancelotti's men gained momentum and tripled the lead nineminutes later through Lewandowski, who tapped home CorentinTolisso's low cross from very close range.

The hosts were unable to hold the pace as Ribery made it 4-0,with a free-kick goal from 20 meters into the top left corner,before Mats Hummels rounded off the victory with a header followinga corner in the 89th minute.

Titleholders Borussia Dortmund remain in the contest as well asPierre-Emerick Aubameyang donated a hat rick to crush lower leagueside Rielasingen-Arlen 4-0 on the road.

From the start, the hosts kept all their men behind the ball butfailed to keep the "BVB" on the distance.

It took thus only 12 minutes before Dortmund opened the scoringthrough Marc Bartra, who slotted home a square pass Jan-NiklasBeste from very close range.

The visitors dominated but Rielasingen-Arlen adjusted theirdefence and kept Dortmund away from the goal area.
