Chinese vice president meets Uzbek foreign minister on ties

BEIJING, Aug. 19 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Vice President Wang Qishan met with Uzbekistan's Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov on Monday, calling on the two countries to enhance all-round cooperation.

Noting Uzbekistan is an ancient country on the Silk Road, Wang said bilateral relations have been running at a high level since the establishment of diplomatic ties 27 years ago. Cooperation in various fields has been continuously deepened under the strategic guidance of the two heads of state.

Both China and Uzbekistan are committed to realizing national prosperity, national rejuvenation and people's happiness through reform and opening up, Wang said, adding that the higher the goal is, the more important it is to stay focused and patient and achieve the strategic goals step by step.

China and Uzbekistan should continue to firmly support each other, increase exchanges of experience in governance, deepen all-round cooperation and strengthen communication and coordination through multilateral platforms such as the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, Wang said.

For Kamilov's part, he said Uzbekistan and China enjoy profound friendship, high mutual trust and broad cooperation. Uzbekistan speaks highly of China's efforts for regional development, cooperation, security and stability, and is ready to work with China to promote practical cooperation such as connectivity and Belt and Road construction, and consolidate the comprehensive strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and China.
