COPENHAGEN, Sept. 2 (Xinhua) -- Hundreds of people on Monday gathered here to protest against U.S. President Donald Trump although his visit to Denmark planned for Monday had been canceled.

Trump last week canceled his scheduled Sept. 2-3 trip to Denmark after Danish leaders refused his far-flung demand to purchase Greenland.

Protesters outside the U.S. Embassy in Copenhagen expressed sympathy and support for the people of Greenland. Some held signs and placards, reiterating that Denmark had clearly said no to a sale of Greenland.

The protesters including U.S. nationals also sharply criticized some other policies of the U.S. administration. They later marched towards Christiansborg Palace, the Danish Parliament, to continue their protest.
