HONG KONG, Jan. 3 (Xinhuanet)-- The death toll from the massive tsunamis triggered by a 8.7-magnitude earthquake in Indonesia on Dec. 26 has risen to over 142,000. Following are the figures reported from some disaster-hit countries:

Country Deaths

Sri Lanka 29,729

India 13,000

Indonesia 95,000

Thailand 5,046

The figures are based on local official and media reports as of 0600 GMT Monday and they are subject to updating.
