A three-week-old baby Assamese Macaque sucks its finger in the zoo in Shanghai, August 2, 2005, as it is held by a zoo keeper after its zoo-born mother lost the ability to feed the baby.

Macaques are native to Asia and Northern Africa, but thousands are housed in research facilities, zoos, wildlife or amusement parks.
