LISBON, Dec. 9 (Xinhuanet) -- Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao and Portuguese President Jorge Sampaio Friday spoke highly of the Sino-Portuguese relationship and pledged to boost the all-around cooperation between the two nations.

During his meeting with Sampaio Friday afternoon, Wen said China is pleased with the smooth development of the relations with Portugal in politics, economy, investment and civil exchanges.

China will continue to open market to the Portuguese enterprises and provide them with various convenience, said the premier.

Over the past six years after Macao returned to China, the cooperation between the Macao Special Administrative Region and Portugal has been enhanced, he said.

Wen said he believes that Macao will continue to play an active role as a linkage for the Sino-Portuguese friendship and a vital platform for the friendly cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking countries.

China values its traditional friendship with Portugal, he said, adding that China attaches great importance to developing the long-term stable and all-around cooperative partnership with Portugal.

Sampaio said Portugal is satisfied with the development of its ties with China.

The president stressed that the exchanges of high-level visits between the two nations "have sowed the seeds" for the further development of bilateral relations.

He also lauded the achievements Macao has made in recent years.

Wen arrived in Lisbon Friday afternoon for a two-day official visit.

Earlier Friday, China and Portugal announced the setting up of an all-around strategic partnership between the two countries.
