Lien Chan leaves Beijing for Fujian Province

BEIJING, April 17 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Kuomintang (KMT) Honorary Chairman Lien Chan left Beijing for Fujian Province in East China on Monday afternoon.

Chen Yunlin, director of the Taiwan Affairs Office of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, saw Lien and his wife off at the Beijing Capital Airport.

During his stay in Fujian, Lien will worship his ancestors in Zhangzhou City and receive an honorary doctor's degree from Xiamen University.

Early Monday, Lien and his wife Lien Fang-yu visited the Great Wall at Badaling in Beijing, where he left inscriptions at the world famous heritage site.
