Jade miners work at a jade mine in the Kunlun mountains in China's northern Qinghai Povince, May 17, 2006.

Jade was known in China as the stone of heaven, and was used in rituals more than 9000 years ago. It is regarded as symbolising health, morality, wisdom, and honesty. Throughout history much of China's best jade was mined in the Kunlun mountains.
