Top-seeded Cai/Fu eliminated from men's doubles quarters at Doha Asiad

DOHA, Dec. 7 (Xinhua) -- Top-seeded Cai Yun and Fu Haifeng of China were eliminated from the badminton men's doubles quarter-finals at the 15th Doha Asian Games on Thursday.

Being the world number one and newly-crowned world champion, Cai and Fu arrived in Doha as hot favorites. After knocking off Thai shuttlers Sudket Prapakamol and Phattapol Ngensrisuk 21-9, 23-21 this morning, the Chinese pair set up a battle against Koo KienKeat and Tan Boon Heong of Malaysia.

In the first encounter of the two pairs, Cai and Fu lagged all the way to lose 21-9, 21-19.

The depressed pair refused any interview after the game.
