Chinese Liu defends Asiad title of men's K1 1000m in Doha

DOHA, Dec. 11 (Xinhua) -- China's Liu Haitao defended his Asiadtitle in the men's K1 1000m of canoe and kayak competition at the Doha Asian Games here on Monday.

Liu clocked a time of four minutes and 25.136 seconds, edging Uzbekistan's Aleksey Babadjanov into second place in 4:27.776.

The bronze medal went to Moon Chul Wook of South Korea in 4:30.796.

Trailing in the first 250m, Liu came from behind and led the way to win in the rest 750m.
