A man receives laser treatment to help him stop smoking at a healing centre in northern China's Tianjin Municipality, May 30, 2007.

China needs comprehensive laws to reduce the number of smokers or the habit could end up killing 2.2 million Chinese a year by 2020, the World Health Organisation said on Wednesday.

A treatment session can cost up to 680 yuan (89 dollars).
