A tourist walks past a vendor selling the 2008 Olympic fake mascots souvenirs at the Tiananmen Square in Beijing, July 27, 2007.

China is rife with counterfeit products and Olympic organizers are trying to stem the flow leading to the 2008 Olympics.

Repeating an earlier pledge, Yuan Bin, director general of the marketing department for the Beijing Organizing Committee, said that selling fake Olympic merchandise "would lead to prosecution, fines and other measures."
