Krosa reaches Wenzhou, moving back to sea

Police in Cangnan County of Wenzhou City, Zhejiang Province, send villagers to safe places when the area was hit by typhoon Krosa yesterday morning. Villagers were trapped when flood water rose to three meters high after torrential rainfalls. The typhoon was expected to enter the East China Sea this afternoon.

SHANGHAI, Oct. 8 -- TYPHOON Krosa hit Yongjia County in eastern China's Wenzhou City, Zhejiang Province at 11am today and was expected to enter the East China Sea this afternoon, the provincial meteorological bureau warned.

Packing a sustained wind speed of up to 74 kilometer an hour at its eye, Krosa unleashed gales and torrential rains in northern and eastern parts of Zhejiang and will bring down the average temperature by six degrees centigrade through today to tomorrow, Eastday.com reported.

In the last 50 hours, 129 locations across Zhejiang suffered more than 300 millimeters of rains, among which 16 places had more than 400 millimeters.

Water levels in rivers in the cities of Wenling and Chongde and the Gongchen Bridge area in Hangzhou have risen above the warning level.
