Niuji Mosque is the oldest and largest mosque in Beijing, one of the world's most famous mosques.
It was originally built in the 14 th Year of the reign Tonghe, Liao Dynasty or the 2nd Year of the Zhidao reign, the Northern Song Dynasty (AD. 996). Then, it was entitled loyal "Mosque" in the 10th Year of the Chenghua reign, the Ming Dynasty (AD. 1474). The founder of Niuji Mosque was Arabic scholar Narsrudin. The mosque faces westward and orderly arranged on a central axis. It is a unique Chinese Islamic building with the combination of architectural styles of Chinese palace and Arabic mosque.
