Relatives stand near coffins in Onna, in central Italy. Rescuers scrambled in the dark to find survivors from a powerful earthquake in central Italy that killed at least 150 people as thousands of homeless sought shelter in hastily built tent cities.

The following are figures given by Italian rescuers and government officials on Monday's earthquake in central Italy:

• More than 150 dead

• At least one foreigner among dead, a student from the Czech Republic

• More than 1,500 injured

• Some 10,000 damaged buildings

• At least 50,000 people homeless

• More than 5,000 rescue workers involved

• 5,000 rooms requisitioned in hotels on the nearby Adriatic coast to house survivors

• 2,000 tents set up in five makeshift camps in the quake zone
