China’s first aircraft carrier, the “Varyag” has completed its 9th sea trial and returned to the dock in Dalian, northeast China’s Liaoning Province on July 30, 2012. The trial lasts 25 days, the longest one in its history.
Chinese Ministry of National Defense repudiated the rumor at a recent press conference that “Varyag” would be in service in time for China’s Army Day, which is set on August 1.
“The aircraft carrier will have to undertake scientific experiments and training, which determines the next step. Rome is not built in one day. People should be objective and rational on this issue,” said Bolin, a deputy director general from military.
Li Xiaoyan, the former aircraft carrier commander, was appointed as deputy chief of the East China Sea fleet. The new aircraft carrier commander is from Navy's East China Sea fleet and has no flying experience.
The aircraft carrier has been under factory test since last October.
The aircraft carrier has no plan to sail for South China Sea as assumed, said the military official Bolin. First, the aircraft carrier is still under scientific experiment and training. Second, the factory test of the carrier will have to take a long time before the military test.
