At least 36 killed in NW China road accident

YAN'AN, Shaanxi, Aug. 26 (Xinhua) -- At least 36 people were killed early Sunday morning after a collision between a bus and a methanol-loaded tanker in northwest China's Shaanxi province, local police said.

The two vehicles caught fire after the collision in the city of Yan'an at around 2 a.m.. Three people survived, but suffered injuries, said the municipal police.

36 bodies have been found from the debris. The exact death toll is yet to be known as the number of people aboard the 39-seat bus is unavailable at the moment.

Police are investigating the cause of the accident.
