Chinese women fencers pick up gold in epee team competition

KUALA LUMPUR, July 29(Xinhuanet)-- China's female fencers on Friday grabbed the gold in women's epee team competition in the fifth day of the 2005 Asian Fencing Championship held in eastern Malaysia.

This is the sixth gold medal bagged by Chinese fencers in this competition held in Kota Kinabalu, capital of the Sabah state.

The silver and bronze medals in women's epee team went to South Korea and Japan respectively.

Chinese male fencers, however, had to accept the silver medal in men's saber team contest, beaten by South Korea. China's Hong Kong and Japan shared the bronze.

Up to Friday, Chinese fencers have secured six gold and five silver medals.

Fencers will compete for two more gold in team events Saturday,which is the last day of the fencing championship. Enditem
