MADRID, August 14(Xinhuanet)-- League champions Barcelona, whose title defending campaign is to kick off, earned a classy 3-0 win away to King's Cup winners Real Betis in the first leg of the Spanish Super Cup final on Saturday.
French winger Ludovic Giuly scorched past the Betis back four before volleying a low shot to put Barcelona ahead two minutes after the break thanks to a magnificent disguised pass from Brazilian World Cup-winning star Ronaldinho.
Last season's leading scorer Samuel Eto'o shimmied past the hosts' keeper Toni Doblas and slotted the ball into the open net to extend the lead for Frank Rijkaard's side.
Ronaldinho, World Player of the Year, put the icing on the cakejust after the hour when he curled a sharply dipping free kick over the wall and into the net past a bemused Doblas.
Barcelona, who lost on the last two occasions they appeared in the Super Cup, will be hot favorites when they meet in the return leg at the Nou Camp next Saturday, heading on the way to their first trophy of the season. Enditem
