China, Greece sign memo on security cooperation in 2008 Olympics

BEIJING, Nov. 3(Xinhuanet)-- China and Greece on Thursday signed a memorandum of understanding on security cooperation between the two sides in the 2008 Olympic Games.

Chinese State Councilor and Minister of Public Security Zhou Yongkang and visiting Greek Minister of Public Order Yiorgos Voulgarakis attended the signing ceremony.

Zhou said in talks with Voulgarakis that cooperation between law enforcing sectors of China and Greece is conducive to safeguarding social stability of respective countries and accords with the common interests of both sides.

China is ready to work with Greece in combating transnational crimes, building information mechanism and safeguarding security of the Olympic Games, Zhou said.

Voulgarakis said Greece values the friendly cooperation with China. The Greek Ministry of Public Order is willing to enhance law enforcement cooperation with the Chinese Ministry of Public Security. Enditem
