Olympic champion Gerg doubtful for Winter Olympics

BERLIN, Nov. 18(Xinhuanet)-- German Olympic champion Hilde Gerg has been doubtful for next year's Winter Olympics in Turin due to her knee injury.

The Alpine skier, who won the slalom gold medal at the 1998 Olympics in Nagano, partially tore ligaments in her right knee during Super-G practice at Copper Mountain, Colorado.

She said Thursday in a statement that whether she would be ableto compete at the Winter Games depend on the results of further tests.

The Winter Olympics will be held from February 10-26 in Turin, Italy. Enditem
