CANBERRA, Feb. 28(Xinhuanet)-- World record holder Asafa Powell said he expected to stage a fast run in the 100-meter race at next month's Commonwealth Games in Melbourne. The Jamaican sprinter, who predicted last year that he would better the 9.77 seconds he ran in Athens, vowed to run close to his record time in spite of injury. "Since I was injured, I've been working hard, trying to get better to come to these Games," Powell said, adding the injury had healed well and he was eager to get back into action. "This is really important to me. I just want to get it(the comeback) over with. The only thing I have to prove is that I'm better and ready to run." Powell broke Tim Montgonmery's three-year-old world record of 9.78 seconds in Greece but a groin injury forced him to miss the world championships in Finland. Enditem
