SINGAPORE, March 9(Xinhuanet)-- Chinese swimmers made a clean sweep of the seven gold medals on the fifth day of the 7th Asia Swimming Championships here on Thursday. In the men's 50m freestyle, Cai Li finished first in 23:14. Ouyang Kunpeng won the men's 100m backstroke in 54:60, his third gold medal at the championships. Chen Yin won the men's 200m butterfly with a timing of 1:57.31.Ji Zhixiang gained a gold medal in the men's 1500m freestyle with a timing of 15:28.33. Zhang Xin won the women's 200m individual medley by clocking 2:16.14. Yu Rui won the women's 800m freestyle with a timing of 8:44.51. The Chinese quartet clocked 4:07.96 to take the women's 4x100m medley relay. In the synchronized swimming events, Chinese swimmers Zhang Xiaohuan and Gu Beibei won gold in the free duet routine with a score of 94.83. The pair also took the duet technical routine witha score of 94 on Tuesday. Organized by the Singapore Swimming Association(ASS) and the Singapore Sports Council(SAC), the championships is being held from March 5 to 10 at the Singapore Sports School, drawing some 300 swimmers from 19 countries and regions. The four-day synchronized swimming competition, which started on Monday, is also part of this championships. The Asia Swimming Championships is a quadrennial event, with the inaugural one held in 1980 in Dacca, Bangladesh. Enditem
