Japan to leave for World Cup on May 26

TOKYO, April 15(Xinhua)-- Asian champions Japan will leave for their World Cup base in Germany on May 26, the Japan Football Association(JFA) said on Friday.

Japan take on Bulgaria on May 9 and Scotland on May 13 in home friendlies before FIFA's May 15 deadline for teams to submit their final 23-man World Cup squad.

The Japan squad will assemble for a week-long training camp before moving to their World Cup base in Bonn.

They are set to play hosts Germany on May 30 and Malta on June 4 in their final tune-ups before the World Cup.

Japan are drawn alongside Australia, Croatia and holders Brazilin Group F. They play Guus Hiddink's Australia in their opening game in Kaiserslautern on June 12. Enditem
