Lyon seal record 5th consecutive French title

PARIS, April 15(Xinhua)-- Lyon won a record fifth consecutive French Ligue 1 soccer title Saturday after second-placed Bordeaux were handed a 3-2 loss at Lille.

Lyon play Paris Saint-Germain on Sunday, but its 14-point lead has secured the title while Bordeaux can only glean a maximum of 12 points with four games to play.

Coach Jacques Santini guided Lyon to its first ever title in the 2001-02 season, then Paul Le Guen won three more before leaving in 2005 to be replaced by Gerard Houllier, who clinched his second championship 20 years after coaching PSG to victory in the 1985-86 season.

A Peter Odemwingie double earned Lille a victory over Bordeaux.Lille, who have played 35 matches, are just three points behind Bordeaux in third place. Enditem
