Henin-Hardenne eliminated at Family Circle Cup

WASHINGTON, April 15(Xinhua)-- Top-seeded Justine Henin-Hardenne from Belgium was defeated at the Family Circle Cup tennis tournament by Patty Schnyder of Switzerland 2-6, 6-3, 6-2 in the semifinals in Charlston, South Carolinaon, on Saturday.

The defending champion Henin-Hardenne had won 14 straight matches in the tournament and was beaten for the first time by Schnyder in seven meetings dating back to 2001.

The third seed Schnyder will play Nadia Petrova, who is lookingfor her second straight WTA title, while the second-seeded Petrova advanced to the final with a 6-1, 6-3 victory over doubles partnerAnna-Lena Groenefeld. Enditem
