SOFIA, April 15(Xinhua)-- The much-awaited match between newly-crowned Veselin Topalov of Bulgaria and former world chess champion Vladimir Kramnik will take place in September, local report said on Saturday. Kirsan Ilyumzhinov, president of World Chess Federation(FIDE), said the match has been scheduled from Sept. 21 to October 13 at Elista, the capital of Kalmyk, according to local newspaper"24 Hours". The match will adopt a 12-game format, and given a tie, extra games will be played until the winner is decided. The prize money guaranteed for the match is 1 million euros. Silvio Danailov, manager of Topalov, agreed to the match in principle, but claimed that the prize money should be won only by the winner and Kramnik should give up the request of taking part in the match under the title of"World Champion" Topalov was crowned last October at the World Championship in Saint Luis, Argentina, where Kramnik skipped the game.
