Chelsea closer to title
2006-04-15 20:25:24 Xinhua English
LONDON, April 15(Xinhua)-- Chelsea took an almost unbeatable lead at the league table on Saturday following the 2-0 victory over Bolton Wanderers.

Chelsea's victory came after their closest rivals Manchester United was surprisingly held to a goalless tie with bottom club Sunderland on Friday night.

With just four games remaining, Chelsea lead United by 9 points and could seal the title as early as Monday, if United fail to beat Tottenham Hotspurs and the Blues defeat Everton.

Bolton's home loss to Chelsea meant they had lost five straight Premiership matches with their chances for a European place looking dim.

John Terry put Chelsea ahead by heading home Frank Lampard's free kick from the left in the 44th minute.

In the 59th minutes, Lampard claimed his 15th Premiership goal of the season with a shot from close range. Enditem
