LONDON, June 5 (Xinhua) -- England team left London's Luton Airport on Monday afternoon for the coming World Cup finals in Germany.

Before the departure, England's head coach Sven-Goran Eriksson and the 23-man squad, including striker Wayne Rooney, took sending-off pictures on the ramp of the Flight BA9200C.

Captain David Beckham showed a big flag of England squad from the pilots' window of the Airbus A320 to the crowds after boarding.

Rooney is traveling with the squad but he must return to Manchester on Wednesday for a scan on his fractured metatarsal. But Eriksson remains convinced that the 20-year-old striker could play a part in Germany.

England will play its first match against Paraguay in Group B on Saturday in Frankfurt. Enditem
