Kuwait beats Aussie, Saudi, Qatar and UAE qualified for Asian Cup finals

KUWAIT CITY, Sept. 6 (Xinhua) -- Khalaf Al-Salamah and Bader Al-Motawa scored one goal apiece in the second half to hand Kuwaita 2-0 win over Australia in an Asian Cup qualifier here on Wednesday.

Among the 3 teams in group D, Kuwait now has four points in addition to a point from a 0-0 draw with Bahrain, a team Australia defeated 3-1 in their opening fixture.

Along with another win over Kuwait by a same 2-0, Australia had become the first team to qualify for the 2007 Asian Cup finals.

Meanwhile, Gulf neighbors Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates have become qualified for next year's Asian Cup finals on Wednesday, joining Australia.

Saudi Arabia beat India 7-1 for its fourth straight victory and claimed a place from Group A, while Qatar downed Bangladesh 3-0 to assure itself of the Group F title.

The United Arab Emirates drew 0-0 at home with Jordan, keeping it ahead of Oman in Group C and also making sure it cannot be overtaken by the third-place Jordanians with two rounds remaining. Enditem
