28th Int'l Eurasia Marathon to be run in Istanbul

ANKARA, Sept. 21 (Xinhua) -- The 28th Intercontinental Eurasia Marathon will be run in Istanbul on November 5th, Istanbul Mayor Kadir Topbas said on Thursday.

The marathon will be on two continents -- Asia and Europe, adding that the total of the awards will be 572,000 USD; Topbas was quoted as saying by the semi-official Anatolia news agency.

He added that nearly 1,500 runners from 50 countries and regions will compete in the marathon.

Meanwhile, Istanbul will also host for the first time European Police Marathon within the scope of Eurasia Marathon and nearly 250 policemen from various countries will compete in this race.

The Eurasia Marathon starts in the Asian part of Istanbul, cross the Bosphorus Bridge (1.5 km long), and finishes in front of Dolmabahce Palace in European side of Istanbul. Enditem
