Jankovic makes last four at China Open

BEIJING, Sept. 22 (Xinhua) -- Jelena Jankovic of Serbia advanced into last four at the China Open WTA tournament as she beat world number seven Nadia Petrova of Russia in full sets here at the 600,000 U.S. dollars tournament on Friday.

Jankovic, who continued to surge ahead in her turn-around season, ousted the third-seeded Russian 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 in the two-hour-11-minute thriller.

Having won 34 of her last 46 matches, Jankovic began the season winning only 1 match in her first 11 events contested. Next up for the 21-year-old will be the winner between French world number one Amelie Mauresmo and American veteran Lindsay Davenport. Enditem
