MADRID, Sept. 29 (Xinhua) -- Raul Gonzalez, forward and captain for soccer giant Real Madrid, was on Friday left out of the shortlist for the national team's Oct. 7 qualifier against Sweden in Stockholm for the Euro 2008, team manager Luis Aragones told media.
Raul was also excluded from the Oct. 13 friendly against Argentina.
Local media said that it was the first time that team manager Luis Aragones had left an uninjured Raul, 29, off the list, since 1996, when he debuted with the national squad.
Since 1996, Raul has played 102 games for the national side and scored 44 goals. Also missing from the shortlist for the two planned games were Valencia players Joaquin Sanchez, Fernando Morientes and Carlos Marchena; Real Madrid's Michel Salgado; and Celta Vigo's Borja Oubina.

Goalkeepers: Real Madrid's Iker Casillas and Liverpool's Jose Manuel Reina
Defenders: Barcelona's Carles Puyol, Atletico Madrid's Antonio Lopez and Pablo Ibanez, Real Betis's Juanito Gutierrez; Real Madrid's Sergio Ramos; and Deportivo La Coruna's Juan Capdevila.
Midfielders: Valencia's David Albelda and Miguel Angel Angulo; Liverpool's Xabi Alonso; Arsenal's Cesc Fabregas; Barcelona's Andres Iniesta and Xavi Hernandez; and Atletico Madrid's Antonio Lopez.
