WOLKERSDORF, Austria, Sept. 19 (Xinhua) -- The Upper Austria SVS table tennis club (SVS), with Chinese national player Wang Hao, scored the second win in the 2006--2007 table tennis men's European Champions League in Wolkersdorf, Austria, on Friday evening.
The SVS defeated French Angers Vaillante TT 3-0 and took the top position in the group, following its opening victory over Swedish Esloevs Al TC in early September when Wang Hao defeated Robert Svensson 3-1.
Wang Hao, who ranked third in the world, came out first against French Cedric Cabestany.
After 1-1 in the first two sets, Wang adjusted his tactics on time to control the rhythm and took two sets in a row with identical score of 11-3.
Afterwards, Werner Schlager, who ranked 10th, and Chen Weixing, ninth-ranked, won over Torben Wosik and Frederic Sonnet by 3-2 and3-1 respectively.
Wang Hao told Xinhua that the style and tactics of the European players were very different from the Asian rubbers in the European League, especially in the semi-finals and finals, and he could well improve his adaptability.
Chinese national table tennis team chose Wang Hao, Chen Qi and Hou Yingchao to join the European clubs and play in the European League of 2006--2007, in order to help the young players adapt themselves to the European players.
Wang Hao and Hou Yingchao joined the SVS, Chen Qi was sent to an Spanish club.
