Guo stuns Zhang for world crown

SHANGHAI, Oct 3 -- SECOND seed Guo Yan of China won her first table tennis World Cup title on Sunday, beating teammate Zhang Yining, the Olympic and world champion, 4-3 in Urumqi, Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region.

Zhang, 24, was the World Cup winner in 2001, 2002, 2004 and 2005 but on Sunday Guo won 13-15, 12-10, 9-11, 7-11, 11-7, 11-8, 11-6. In the third-place playoff, Singapore's Li Jia Wei beat Tie Yana of Hong Kong.
