Torch for Doha Asian Games arrives in Busan

BUSAN, Oct. 14 (Xinhua) -- The torch for this year's Asian Games has arrived in the South Korean city of Busan.

The municipal authorities in the southeastern port city said the torch, brought by Qatar's Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani late Friday in a chartered plane from New Delhi, India, will be carried through the city before being transported to the Philippines early Monday. Busan hosted the Asian Games in 2002.

The Asian Games flame is on a journey of 50,000 km through 15 countries and regions for 55 days and is expected to arrive in Khalifa Stadium in Doha on Dec. 1. The Doha Asian Games are slated for Dec. 1-15.

The next stops for the torch will be the Philippines, Japan, Indonesia, Thailand, Iran, Oman, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Bahrain, China.

The torch was lit Oct. 8 in Doha, Qatar, the host city for the 15th Asian Games. Enditem
