BRUSSELS, Oct. 16 (Xinhua) -- The Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg are prepared to enter their joint bid during January for the 2018 World Cup, a 2000 European Championship organizer said on Monday.

"We will certainly enter our bid during the month of January," said Alain Courtois, the organizer of the 2000 European Championship, which was co-hosted by the Netherlands and Belgium.

South Africa will host the 2010 World Cup and FIFA has not yet formally started accepting bids for 2014, tentatively reserved for South America under the world body's vague continental rotation policy. After that, it could return to Europe.

Japan and South Korea co-hosted the 2002 World Cup but FIFA has discouraged the idea of co-hosts again. Enditem
