Beijing Olympic organizers awarded ISO14001 certificate

BEIJING, Nov. 9 (Xinhua) -- The Beijing Organizing Committee for 2008 Olympic Games (BOCOG) has passed the overall examination of its environmental management system (EMS), and been accredited with a re-certified ISO14001 by China's Environmental Certification Center.

The scope of the examination covers twelve areas, including BOCOG Green Office, event route planning, communications, accommodation, catering and Games-time transportation service, marketing, Olympic procurement, organization of large-scale activities, torch relay route planning, venue planning and construction, and environmental management, BOCOG said on its website.

Through EMS, BOCOG has been making efforts to carry out the concept of "Green Olympics," one of the Olympic concepts that emphasizes sustainable development.
