MELBOURNE, March 20 (Xinhua) -- Russian pair Anastasia Davydovaand Anastasia Ermakova won their third consecutively duet world title here on Tuesday at the FINA World Championships. In the duet technical final, the Anastasia pair satisfied the judges with their extreme synchronization and great performance, collecting 98.833 points as the second to last starters. Although Christina Jones and Annabelle Orme from the United States hadn't performed yet, the Russian duo began to celebrate. "We congratulate ourselves. We're not afraid of the United States. We're afraid of ourselves," Ermakova said. Being asked whether they made any mistakes in the final, Ermakova said, "Of course. Our coach found our mistakes, but we won 't tell those to anyone - if you didn't spot them, that's not our problem!" Spain duo Gemma Mengual/Paola Tirados Sanchez finished second with 97.500 points and Saho Harada/Emiko Suzuki won bronze for Japan with 97.167 points. Chinese twin Jiang Tingting/Jiang Wenwen made a fourth place finish, which was the best result that the Chinese synchronized swimming team achieved at World Championships. Since the separate medal awards for the technical and free routines in the solo, duet and team events have been introduced by FINA for the first time in Melbourne, the Anastasia pair could tryto add another gold to their haul of medals by winning the duet free routine on Friday.
