WASHINGTON, March 28 (Xinhua) -- 13th seed Serena Williams notched up an uncharacteristically easy victory over eighth-seeded Czech Nicole Vaidisova 6-1, 6-4 at the Sony Ericsson Open tennis tournament on Wednesday.

Coming up next for the Australian Open American champion will be Israeli Shahar Peer, a 6-0, 6-3 winner earlier in the day over Italy's Tathiana Garbin.

In the other semi-final, world number one Justine Henin of Belgium will take on Russian Anna Chakvetadze.
