Powell out of action with knee injury
2007-05-02 18:21:08 Xinhua English

KINGSTON, Jamaica, May 3 (Xinhua) -- Men's 100 meters world record holder Asafa Powell could be out of action for several weeks because of tendinitis in his knee.

Powell did not race in Jamaica's sprint relay team at the Penn Relays in Philadelphia last weekend and likely won't appear at the Jamaica International Invitational in Kingston on Saturday.

Powell's manager Paul Doyle said Powell is training, but not at full speed.

Powell set the world record at 9.77 seconds in June 2005. The Jamaican has matched that time twice, while Justin Gatlin of the United States did it once.
