SHANGHAI, June 26 -- CHINA Central Television today denied an online rumor that it would host a live broadcast of basketball star Yao Ming's wedding during this year's Mid-autumn Festival TV gala show. All the rumors about broadcasting Yao's wedding as part of an evening party for the festival, were all fake and came from unidentified sources, Guo Qihong, the chief director of the TV party, said in a statement, People's Daily reported today. The party crew is now tracking down the sources of the fake news as it "seriously spoiled the image of CCTV and the crew," the statement said. The rumors said that the biggest Chinese TV station would broadcast Yao's wedding to his fianc¨Ĥe Ye Li, who plays on the women's national basketball team, during the Mid-autumn Festival that falls on September 25. Liu Xiang, the world record holder in the 110-meter-hurdles, had been invited to host the live broadcast of the wedding ceremony, according to the rumors. Other rumors also include that the party has invited Faye Wong, a Hong Kong pop diva who now almost retired, with her actor husband Li Yapeng. The couple has been a hot target for paparazzi since they got married in 2005. Li Ao, a controversial writer, social commentator and politician in Taiwan Province, was also on the guest list for the party, according to the rumor. Guo stated that the evening party is now still under initial preparations and the crew hasn't contacted any star or actors yet.
