LUANDA, June 26 (Xinhua) -- Angolan soccer player Roberto Mulenessa Maurito said here on Tuesday that he will sign a contract with the French first division club Olympique de Marseille.

Speaking to Radio-5 sports broadcasting station, Maurito who represented Al Wadha of the United Arab Emirates in the previous season considered the French League as one of the most competitive leagues in Europe, saying that he will try to dignify Angola's name in the international soccer arena.

"The fact that it is a team that will compete in the European Champions League is something that is good to re-launch my career," he stressed.

Aged 25, Maurito played at the African Nations Cup in 2006, but missed the World Cup in Germany due to an injury.

African players like Abedi Pele, Marcel Desailly, Didier Drogba, Claude Makelele, among others, played for Olympique de Marseille.
