BOGOTA, July 1 (Xinhua) -- The International Olympic Committee (IOC) president Jacques Rogge will visit Colombia on July 8, invited by Colombia's Olympic Committee (COC) president Andres Botero, local government sources reported on Sunday. Rogge's visit occurs prior to the inauguration of the 15th Pan American Games that will be hosted in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and also taking advantage of the IOC Assembly to be held in Guatemala in early July, the sources added. Rogge's agenda in Colombia includes a meeting with Colombian president Alvaro Uribe, a press conference at COC's installations, a tour through the sports High Efficiency Center and will conclude his visit by placing the first stone for Colombia's Olympic Museum. Rogge competed in sailing in the 1968 Olympic Games in Mexico, in Munch-1972 and Montreal-1976, besides winning the World Championship title. As a sports leader he was president of Europe's Olympic Committees, president of Belgium's Olympic Committee, Mission Chief in Innsbruck 1976 Winter Olympic Games, Calgary-1988, and in Moscow's-1980 Summer Olympic Games, Los Angeles-1984 and Seoul-1988. Rogge assumed the IOC leadership in 2001 after holding since 1998 diverse executive posts in the IOC.
