KAMPALA, Aug. 1 (Xinhua) -- Uganda's African light middleweight champion Badru "Mr Crush" Lusambya is getting ready for his fight against South Africa's Lawrence Ngobeni on August 5 at Fairway Hotel in Kampala. Lusambya has gone through rigorous drills in July since he is aware that victory could earn him a shot at the vacant World Boxing Council Intercontinental super welterweight belt in November. The undefeated champion has been fine-tuning his angling, jabbing, crosses and hooks under the tutelage of trainer Edwin Semanda. "It has been one month of intense training and I am feeling in great shape ahead of the fight," a confident Lusambya was quoted by New Vision on Wednesday as saying. "This is a very important fight for me and I want to put up a great show. I believe a win will enhance my career further," added Lusambya. The Makindye-based fighter's destiny to stardom will only be inspired by a comfortable win to keep his unbeaten streak intact. Lusambya's record reads 16 wins 15 knockouts 0 defeats and 0 draws. The South African, who has 31 wins 18 knockouts 4 draws and8 loses, lost a WBA Pan African l/welterweight title fight in March. Lusambya has pounded his way over South Africa's Tshepo Mashego, Zambians John Chibuta, and Floyd Chongo and Zimbabwean Farai Musiyiwa, pushing his ranking to number 18 in the 147 pound division in the latest WBC ratings.
