China trounces UAE 100-55 in Asia Championship

TOKUSHIMA, Japan, Aug. 2 (Xinhua) -- China posted a 100-55 win over United Arab Emigrates to enter the third phrase of the 2007 FIBA Asia men's basketball Championship here on Thursday.

Chen Chen led the game with 25 points, including seven three-points for the Chinese team, while Gu Liye added 19, Yi Li 13.

China took the upper hand soon after the whistle with a 11-0 run and enlarged the gap to 24 points after the first half.

Players from United Arab Emigrates tried to fight back in the second half with a 7-0 run, but they were soon stopped by China.

Albalooshi Ayoub scored 17 points for United Arab Emigrates Alzaabi Rashed had 11 points and four rebounds.

Early on Thursday, Philippines downs Kuwait 89-58.
